HOW-TO HOST A GIRL’S NIGHT CHRISTMAS PAINTING PARTY!
CHRISTMAS PARTY IDEAS
The time around the holidays are always filled with parties. This past summer my good friend Stacey asked me if I would consider hosting a girl’s night painting party? Clients and friends are constantly asking me if I teach art classes. She told me “You should have one!” So I decided to have a Christmas themed painting party and invite a few good clients & artsy friends to my home. Here’s how it went….
THE PAINTING SUPPLY LIST
I sent out and informal e-vite to 12 friends and headed out for my supplies…
A simple and informal invite sent out via email to my artsy friends.
All of these items were purchased form Michael’s.
Canvases in bulk packs, Americana or any squeeze bottles of paints, metallic mesh runner, mason jar mugs, candy canes, a variety of acrylic brushes, mini glass ornaments and Merry Christmas tags found in the dollar bin. (I used plate stands but if you can afford or have easels that is even more artist!)
Total cost for art supplies just over $100.
SETTING THE TABLE
Each friend got to take home a mason jar mug, paintbrushes, and a mini ornament along with their canvas
The Naked Table. If you’d like you can add a plastic tablecloth to protect the table if anything spills.
A covering of black craft paper gets rolled out for a carefree table covering. Any color will do.
Adding snowflake touches. The old fashioned cut out doilies will do too.
metallic mesh ribbon becomes the runner
Each artist gets a disposable plate for a palette and an adjustable easel.
Adding canvases, dinner napkins for cleaning brushes, paints and supplies.
Simple polka dotted bulbs are hung from the chandelier at different heights with curling ribbon.
large red planters are turned up side down and serve as paint brush centerpiece stands. THE GIRLS ARRIVE
THE GIRLS ARRIVE
And They’re Off. I guide the girls as to what to do first. We have hair dryers on hand to speed up the drying process
having a ball! Excited to get started.
Some are quick and some take their time.. That’s ok!
Different strokes for different folks….
A finished canvas that I like better than mine!
THE FINAL REVEAL
Each girls canvas was a reflection of their own style. Some painted fast and didn’t bother staying in the lines and others meticulously followed my instruction to a T. In the end they all were beautiful and a perfect gift to take home and display for the holidays.
So proud of my friends and they beautifully unique pieces. I love them all
GIVING BACK
All the women brought non-perishable goods to be donated to a local food pantry. I ordered a sheet pizza, made light appetizers, had plenty wine and other drinks on hand. I wanted most of the time to center around the painting. We took food and drink breaks but most of the woman stayed focused not her art.
